The Human Touch
A workshop in photographic storytelling with Massimo Bassano
Jul 6-Jul 12, 2008
Bob's good friend and fellow workshop instructor in Italy, Massimo Bassano, is one of that country's finest photojournalists. His workshop will help you learn to tell a story from a subject’s point of view. Massimo, who has photographed on assignment for National Geographic Traveler, Gente Viaggi and a host of other Italian magazines, shares his secrets on how photographers become a part of the scene they are photographing and ‘touch’ the lives of their subjects, rather than just watching them through a lens. Massimo teaches students how to gain knowledge of locations, become familiar with the history and social context of the people, have an open mind and be fully open to where the story takes them. Most importantly, he encourages students to remember that subjects are people first, and not just camera fodder. This workshop is for experienced photographers with an interest in developing editorial project.
